People's artist of the RSFSR Evgeny Zharikov died in Moscow on the 71st year of his life, the press-Secretary of the Union of cinematographers of Russia Dmitry Yakunin.

"Zharikov was sick with cancer, the last time was at the Botkin hospital under the supervision of doctors," said the source resource Interfax.

Date and place of farewell to the artist is not yet defined.



Evgeny Zharikov was born in 1941 in Moscow in the family of the writer Leonid Zharikov. He studied at the all-Union Institute of cinematography and even in the second year he played his first role in the movie. In 1964, after graduation, went to the GDR, where for two years he played a major role in local TV series "English for You".

Upon returning home since 1966, he played in the Theatre-Studio of film actors in Moscow in 1988 to 2000 he headed the actors Guild of Soviet cinema (1991 - screen actors Guild Russia).
