Third-grader, aimed at the social center about a week ago, weighs about 80 pounds. As noted by the representatives of the social services, because of obesity from him in the near future may develop diabetes and hypertensive disease. It is noted that before obtaining court orders to take the child from the family, social workers during the year, followed by his mother and repeatedly accused her of neglecting to doctors ' recommendations that would help to reduce the weight of the boy.




Social workers also came to the conclusion that the excess weight of the child, despite the fact that his parents also suffer from obesity, driven primarily not by heredity and the influence of environment. One of the arguments in support of this was, in particular, the existence of the third-grader thin 16-year-old brother.




As noted, this is the first case in the district when the child is removed from their parents because of the problems with being overweight. Lawyers for the boy's mother, in turn, said that the social workers had exceeded its authority.




According to the American Center for control and prevention, approximately 17 percent of children and adolescents under the age of 19 years in the United States suffer from overweight. The proportion of people among adult Americans is as high as 33 percent.
