After childbirth, women are smarter?

After childbirth, women are smarter? The popular belief that nursing moms "whole brain in the milk is gone, completely unfounded. As found by scientists from the National Institute of mental health in Maryland (USA), the brain of a woman who became a mother, begins to grow.

Moreover, the longer a woman takes care of the child, the more it increases the brain. Their discovery, the researchers made on the basis of a brain scan of 19 women who have recently given birth to ten boys and nine girls. The analysis of images of the brain taken on the second-fourth week and the third or fourth month after birth, showed that gray matter has increased in volume.

Scientists have linked this phenomenon with hormonal changes in the body moms, and the need, so to speak, to think for two: for yourself and for the child.

In adults the amount of gray matter does not change, if the person does not endured injury or illness, if he didn't have to memorize large amounts of information over a long period of time (for example, during the study) and if not sharply changed environmental conditions.
