Constitution Day Of Ukraine

June 28, 1996 the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted a new Constitution is the first Constitution of the independent Ukrainian state.


In 1996 members working on the project, remaining in the session hall all night from 27 to 28 June. Parliamentarians have taken into account the comments of the President of Ukraine, and also supported all the controversial articles of the project: on the state symbols of Ukraine, Ukrainian state language, on the right of private property in Ukraine.




The adoption of the Constitution strengthened the legal basis of independent Ukraine, its sovereignty and territorial integrity.




The adoption of the Constitution was the most important step in ensuring the rights of man and citizen, contributed to further increasing the international prestige of Ukraine in the international arena. Therefore, in accordance with the Constitution, the date of adoption of the Basic Law is a national holiday - the Constitution Day of Ukraine.
