Children who drink a lot of fizzy drinks and frequently eat foods rich in carbohydrates, are at increased risk of developing high blood pressure and heart disease in the future.
Scientists from the University of Sydney, Australia, watched over 2000 students aged 12 years, who completed questionnaires about diet. Also, the children passed the examination of the retina to determine the diameter of the blood vessels.
As it turned out, students who drank more soda and eat a lot of sweets and starchy foods, there has been a narrowing of blood vessels in the retina. This sign warns that in the future the child may increase the pressure and problems with the health of the cardiovascular system.
In addition to carbonated soft drinks and carbohydrates, healthy heart and blood vessels of children undermines addicted to watching TV. The study showed that the more often a child is sitting in front of the TV, the higher the likelihood of damage to small blood vessels.
The researchers plan to analyze the data about the young participants of the experiment after five years to find out, continue to suffer their blood vessels.
