The Internet 20 years

The Internet 20 yearsToday, 17 may, is very important for all fans of the world wide web. On this day twenty years ago in the world appeared first Internet server.

Incidentally, the project WWW, which means World Wide Web (world wide web), began its existence in 1989 and its parent was Tim Berners-Lee. However, the work on the project began just a year later, when Tim got access to the NeXT computer, which was the first Internet server, browser, and editor of the network.

A new project quickly gained popularity: in 1993 there were already 26 servers, and in the year 200. Today Internet is used by hundreds of millions of users.

Interestingly, the holiday has appeared not so long ago, only in 2006, the UN General Assembly adopted a Resolution proclaiming 17 may as world information society day.
