Why we should smile more often

Why we should smile more oftenThe more you smile, the longer it will live, according to psychologists at the University of Kentucky (USA). Scientists asked volunteers to share 230 photos of players in the MLB from the registry for 1952 width and openness of a smile. Had three groups: those who smiled "sincerely", "duty" and just laughed.

It turned out that those who did not smile, lived an average of 73 years. The duty holders smile (it is called "pan am" - in honor of flight attendants-known airline that always smile "teeth", not eyes) on average died at the age of 75 years. But those who differed "Duchenne smile" (involves the whole person, and the term derives from the name of the French scientist who first described the physiology sincere smile), on average, live about 80 years.

Of course, it's not the smile. Optimism and a positive attitude to life will affect the production of hormones that improve the immune system, heart and blood vessels. But people related to life pessimistic worse cope with viral infections, are more likely to suffer diseases of the gastrointestinal tract and nervous diseases.

By the way, two types of smiles inherent in any person. Already 10 months most babies smile "pan American" smile when meeting a stranger and dushenkovski" - when dealing with my mother.
