Arkady Raikin was born in Riga into a Jewish family port broker scaffolding Isaac D. Raikin and his wife Elizabeth Borisovna Ricini (nee Gurevich). The family also grew younger sister Bella and Sophia, and brother Max.
While studying at school in Rybinsk was involved in the drama club and was fond of theatre. In 1922, the family settled in Petrograd. In 1929 he worked as an assistant on the Okhta chemical plant.
Arkady Raikin graduated from the Leningrad technical school of performing arts, where he acted against the wishes of his parents.
As the distribution was in Leningrad Theatre of working youth, which was soon renamed the theater of the Lenin Komsomol. In parallel with the game in the theater, starred in two films: "the Flaming years" and "Dr. Kalyuzhny (both shot in 1938).

In the same 1939, Arkady Isaakovich was accepted into the troupe of the Leningrad theatre and miniatures, three years later became the artistic Director of the theater.
During the great Patriotic war Arkady Raikin gave concerts at the front.
After the war Raikin continues to work in Theater and starred in several films. Together with satirist C. S. Polyakov created theatre program "Cup of tea", "don't pass", "Frankly". His appearances on radio and television, audio thumbnails are very popular with the public. Especially known for his theatrical performances, where the actor, quickly changing the appearance, became a master stage of transformation, creating a whole series of images of a completely different nature.
During a tour in Odessa Raikin notices talented actors youth theatre "Parnassus-2" and in 1962 invites to work in their theatre Odessa Mikhail Zhvanetsky, Roman Kartsev, Viktor Ilchenko and Lyudmila Gvozdikov. Together they created some catchy pop numbers. In 1969, in collaboration with M. M. Zhvanetsky was set program "Traffic light". In 1969 Zhvanetsky, Kartsev and Ilchenko leave the Theater of miniatures and start their own pop career.

In 1982 the theatre Arkady Raikin moved to Moscow and was renamed the national theatre of miniatures. Director of the theatre after the death of the artist was the son of Arkady Raikin - Konstantin Raikin.
Died Arkady Isaakovich 20 December 1987 on the 77th year of his life from rheumatic heart disease.He was buried at the Novodevichy cemetery in Moscow.
