Gestures toddler associated with speech development

Gestures toddler associated with speech developmentRich gestures baby is associated with better development of language abilities, researchers found.
It was found that kids with a variety of body language at an older age will have a richer vocabulary.

At the same time, children's gestures were associated with high levels of income and education of parents, but experts are in no hurry to put forward the hypothesis that children from families with low socio-economic status will grow with limited vocabulary.

Pediatricians from the University of Chicago said that children begin to gesticulate before began to say, so this method of communication is also an effective form of communication with the child.

Scientists observed the development of 50 children, ranging from 14 months to 4, 5 years, paying particular attention to the ways of interaction of the kids with their parents.

As it turned out, the level of gestures in infancy was directly linked to language skills in early childhood; income and parents ' education level also played a role: for example, children from affluent families showed 24 gesture for hours of observations and their vocabulary consisted of 117 words, compared to 13 gestures and 93 words in children from families with low income.

Psychologists believe that this relationship can be explained by the presence in the more affluent homes, toys, and various things that may be of interest to the child.

Hand gestures enhance the quality of learning and memorizing new words in an educational context, experts explain.

They concluded that gestures for the baby appears to be a form of social activity thanks to which the child learns the native language.
