This is not correct and even stereotypical view that depression does not apply at all, but on children, on the contrary, depression is a common disorder that in the last few years younger, as occurs in children. In connection with a slightly different manifestation of depression in children, as a rule, it is not diagnosed.

Children rarely typical symptoms of depression, which we observed in adults. Depression in children is usually manifested all sorts of non-specific symptoms such as: fears, problems at school, psychosomatic symptoms (abdominal pain, headache, shortness of breath), non-standard behavior, unwillingness to play your favorite games, mood swings.

Depression usually we associate with complete apathy, when an adult quite a "for rent", but sometimes children can behave (especially peers) so that no one suspects about their internal state.

Typical symptoms for children (as written above) - somatic symptoms. Doctors - gastroenterologists in their practice have seen a lot of such examples. 17-year-old girl with a complaint against a very strong, paroxysmal abdominal pain, went from one doctor to another, and the cause of this condition has not been installed, and the depression continued to deepen. The pain was due to depressed mood, apathy, difficulty.

Depression can manifest itself even in infants. Often occurs in children deprived of parental care who are in boarding schools and other educational institutions closed, abandoned for a long time in the hospital.

Such children usually there is a gradual accumulation of negative symptoms from the fact that they constantly cry and not know love and affection.

Another important period in which depression can occur in children, adolescence, ages 12-17. As a result of numerous changes (biological and personality), as a rule, it is easier than at other times, with the emergence of depressive States.

Causes of depression not exactly known, but it occurs in the result sets of factors, namely: genetic, biological, psychological and social.

Children often have depression after the loss of parents, brothers and sisters, beloved pet, teenagers have after a breakup with her boyfriend, a friend, or if you move to another residence. Of course, (especially among younger children) a huge influence on the development of depression is marital status. Often perceived as depression for children whose emotional needs are not being met. In addition, faster depression occurs in a child, whose parents constantly exhausted, constantly complain about the result, and the child may blame ourselves for various problems in the family.

So what to do if you suspect your child is suffering from depression:

- Sit quietly with your child, talk, give him more time than usual, ask what his or her concerns.

- If you suspect a child blames themselves in a situation in which not to do so (for example, the relationship between the parents), you must convince him that he is not responsible for your relationship with your husband or other family members. To the child the feeling of guilt
