Group name (if you believe the memoirs Ellie) came from a book of children's names, which she took out of the trash: it was there that she found the alias La Roux (FR. - "red-haired").
The Duo takes the electropop with elements of indie and folk rock. Among the main influences of the participants mentioned early Depeche Mode, The Human League, Blancmange, Heaven 17, and nick Drake.
