Work to live or live to work?

Work to live or live to work? How many hours a day do you work? If the average is obtained over eight hours, then you are working too much. Try to get rid of this vicious practice and begin to live a full life.

People often work longer time than in most other European countries, especially in those cases when they want to achieve something - more money, make a career. Other European countries have long understood that the long working day is bad for health, leads to an imbalance of all life and does not leave enough time for other essential human needs such as sleep, rest, and relationships with loved ones. No work, no matter how much you love her or how well it paid should not take the rest of your life. It happens that in certain periods of life we have to work hard and not noticing anything around, for example, on any particular project, but it should not become the norm and the usual routine. Careful planning of working time is the main key to solving this problem.

Really there are only

three the reasons have to linger long after the end of the day:

1. Office culture - in other words, if the company decided that all sitting at work till night.

2. The desire to feel that you need to confirm its importance for the company and earn the "pros" in the eyes of colleagues and management (this all follows from p. 1).

3. The desire to avoid other unpleasant aspects of your life (for example, lack or complete absence of a romantic relationship, unwillingness, for whatever reason, to come home on time, etc).

And if you think that there is a fourth reason is that a huge number of unfinished tasks in the workplace - then think it over again. Your arguments are not completely justified! If you regularly accumulates a large amount of things that you don't have time to do during the working day, then the reason for it - or the lack of staff in the company, or poor organization Affairs, or both.

Decided to reduce the working day to normal?

Of course, this is possible. If you don't want to stay after the end of the day, but to do all that is required of you, then try the following:

1. Spend the duration of your entire work week to get a clear picture of what it is and how much time you spent on work. Write it all in detail on paper. How long does directly work? How much time do you eat lunch, drink coffee, smoke, talk with colleagues? How many minutes spent on personal phone calls and sending personal e-mail to friends and acquaintances? And how long you're just moping around, waiting, for example, the end of the meeting, or when your boss you will finally cause?

2. Pay attention to where you can save time. Reduce breaks or tea, try not to walk in the office doing nothing and chatting during working hours, and you will have time to do much more for your 8-hour work day.

3. Find out what you are doing that only because I think that you ought to do. For example, if you have 1 - 2 times per week is the meeting or the meeting in the evening, after the end of the day, it doesn't mean you have to stay out late, and on other days when it is not necessary.

4. Try to sleep a sufficient amount of time. Usually in those companies where it is customary to work until late at night, there is a chronic lack of sleep. This is unacceptable! Everyone needs to relax after work, and if you come home very late, to rest and sleep remains much less time. And in this case, the fatigue accumulates, the efficiency is severely reduced, and on the same task have to spend much more time. Therefore it is necessary to break this "vicious circle", make yourself a nice, proper rest, and after that to work with new forces with the best results.

5. Let them know all your colleagues firmly but politely that you are not going to work round the clock. Tell your guide that you have finished your work and go home. If you really did what you wanted, then no need to worry that you will be frowned upon to squint.

6. If you are a Manager, then give yourself an example to follow - leave early, and this will spur others to follow you. A good leader you does not work until late in the evening, and the ability to cope with all the chores during the standard working day.

Of course, this is not an easy task to reduce to a reasonable amount your working day, when you exert pressure and expect completely different. But almost everyone can significantly reduce their working time by careful planning. And as soon as you will be able to cope with all tasks, not staying in the office after the end of the day, then you certainly will be able to deal with personal Affairs, which constantly postponed or simply avoided them, justifying the time spent at work. And by that time you will be absolutely sure that you are ready for any challenge fate, and have nothing you would not have coped.
