A lot or a little?
In the heat we all drink much more than usual. And children especially. And this is natural: the metabolism they are faster than adults, thirst exacerbate running, outdoor games. How much should I drink baby? The usual norm is calculated as follows: 40-50 ml of liquid per 1 kilogram of body weight. This number includes soup and other liquid food (yogurt, milk).
On hot summer days, the child can drink a half to two times more. You should not limit it in fluid - the body itself regulates the need.
What is better to drink in the heat? That's more like it baby (with the exception of "energy" drinks). It is believed that the best thirst quencher drinking table water.
Let's deal with water
Perfect - baby canteens of water, in which a low content of mineral substances not increasing the burden on the kidneys, but also helps maintain the body's electrolyte balance. But the healing mineral water, children can be given only by a doctor.
In summer it is better to buy carbonated water: carbon dioxide prevents the development in it of pathogens. But before you give it to the child, the gas to be released, otherwise you can start colic. Therefore, pouring water into a glass, leave to stand for 15-20 minutes.
A variety of sweet carbonated water is the drink for the holidays, and not to quench thirst. Phosphoric acid, which enters into their composition, spoil the enamel of children's teeth, "washes away" from the body of calcium. And sweeteners, chemical fragrances, dyes, stabilizers are often the cause of allergies.
And of course, you cannot give the child the raw water from the well, even if the well is in your summer cottage and have you tested the water quality. It is clear that boiled water is as tasteless! But this is easily remedied: it is enough to add in a glass of water with a little lemon juice or blackcurrant juice. And try to do without the sugar!
All about tea
Ready iced tea bottles are perfect for long walks - it not only quenches thirst, but also tones. His children can be given from the age of three. If you are preparing the teas themselves, for a child it must be easily welded, barely sweetened, nice to add a bit of lemon or cranberry juice.
However it is not necessary to give the child more than 2-3 cups of tea a day and especially in the evening: in natural tea contains so-called alkaloids - caffeine and theophylline, which excite the nervous system. For kids to make special tea with no tea leaves. But there are other nice utility. For example, tea with rosehip supply the body with more "chunks" of vitamin C, tea with Apple and mint have a mild sedative effect. Another advantage of the children's teas - they are produced in granular form, it is very convenient: in the woods or on the beach filled with drinking water from a bottle and tea is ready.
Juice, juice, juice?
Morse, though it requires time to prepare, is one of the most refreshing summer drinks. Suits raspberry, currant, gooseberry, but the best fruit drinks quench thirst of cherry, plum and dogwood. However, the fruit drinks in children can cause upset stomach, because in the broth, add freshly squeezed juice. So they are only suitable for children over three years.
On hot days often cook the compote of fresh berries, better cuts, but try to add as little sugar. As for juices, they give the child on an empty stomach or between meals, fresh juice can be diluted with water. If you buy ready-made juices, preferably children, the rate of consumption for each age indicated on the package or bottle.
Important:
If the child suffers from chronic heart disease, or kidney, his drinking regime agreed with the doctor.
In the extreme heat in small children may come dehydration. Signs of mild dehydration, weakness, lethargy, dizziness. In such a situation poite baby every 5-10 minutes, giving him a few SIPS of warm water, juice or fruit drink.
Symptoms of severe dehydration: dry mouth and lips, lethargy, drowsiness, rare urination, dark colored urine, sunken eyes. This is a dangerous state when it needs as quickly as possible to deliver the child to the hospital.
And a few more tips:
- The most effective way to quench your thirst in the heat - to give the child once per hour, about half a glass of liquid.
- Black tea give the child only fresh, green can stand for several hours, it is possible to prepare for the future.
As juice and juice contain sugar, these drinks are better to give the child for an hour and a half before eating.
