Day in the fabulous Luxembourg

Day in the fabulous LuxembourgThe Grand Duchy of Luxembourg... This combination sounds mysterious and romantic. Separately and specifically in Luxembourg are going not so many. As a rule, tourists combine the visit with some of the other Benelux countries, or Germany, or France. Now this is what happened with us. We went to the capital of Luxembourg, Luxembourg city, on one day in Belgium. And have not regretted, although the train ride from Bruges, where we stopped, took about 4 hours. By the way, this journey from Brussels is three hours. First, the landscape along the road is very picturesque - you can admire the mountains of the Ardennes, and, secondly, Luxembourg interesting and original.

Many can be found in the city of Luxembourg in one day? Enough. Because the old part of town is not so great in diameter.

Luxembourg city is striking in its landscape. Hills, rocks overgrown with grass, gorges, and rivers Alzette and Petrusse flowing through the city. All this, coupled with delicate bridges, spires and bright colors, creates the impression of a fabulous city.

However, from visiting the Lower town with its new buildings and institutions we disown all this can be seen in other cities. But the Upper town, with its winding streets, ascents and descents, we're quite impressed.

To begin your journey, you sat at the station for the bus and asking passengers where center. As the starting point of the journey, you can choose the place De arme, where, by the way, is a great local market with an unusual clothes, jewelry and all sorts of Luxembourg Goodies.

Close to Constitution Square with the memorial obelisk Golden lady - monument to the fallen in the world wars. From this square you can admire plenty of chic Adolphe Bridge, exchanging through the picturesque valley Petrus and, in fact, the panorama of the valley.

Next is to go to the local Notre Dame Cathedral, with its simple black spires. Inside it is the image of our lady with the infant Jesus, patroness of the city. Hence, from the Cathedral, already short, straight path to the plateau Saint-Esprit, it offers a stunning panorama of charming lower rayonchike city - Grund.

Now we can go in this wonderful neighborhood. To make this move can be a free Elevator directly into the rock. Standing on the bridge over the river, and admiring the reflection of the cliffs and houses (among them, meet and timbered) in calm water, you can go to a romantic cliff Side. There are dark casemates du Bock - maze crude galleries and underground corridors. Climbing the ladder on the rock plateau, we enjoyed the views of the gorge on the other hand.

Here already is within easy reach of Palace of the Grand Dukes - signed for Luxembourg city three-story building topped with a graceful turrets and spires. Once it was a city hall... Now it is the residence of the Grand Duke.

Among the museums that are worth a visit is the national Museum of history and art of Luxembourg and the Museum of the history of the city of Luxembourg, with its many wooden models reconstructions.
