on July 2, the Second continental Congress by a vote approved a resolution of independence, which in June was proposed by Richard Henry Lee. And 4 wile adopted a Declaration.
About these events, John Adams wrote to his wife Workshop:
"The second day of July 1776 will be the most memorable in American history. I'm inclined to believe that this day will be celebrated by later generations as the great annual celebration. This day should be celebrated as liberation day with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires and decorations, it should be celebrated across the continent and throughout all time".
Predictions Adams parted with reality just two days.
