In June 1995 Lessing was awarded the degree of doctor Harvard
University. In the same year he visited South Africa In December 1999 Doris

In January 2000 the National portrait
gallery in London took place the official opening of the portrait of Doris
Lessing works by the artist Leonard McComb.

prize in 87 years old, she became the oldest winner in the history

Mommsen, awarded in 1902 at the age of 85 years.
